'Jazmin Cameron is a recent graduate from Cornell University with a B.A. in Urban & Regional Studies and a certification in Latin American Studies. As an undergraduate student she had the opportunity to mentor junior-high students in Bed-Stuyvesant, Brooklyn and high school students in Ithaca, New York.  As a member of a Latina-based sorority, she assisted in organizing educational and cultural programs that ranged from positive leadership to social issues affecting the Latino and African-American community.  <br /><br />Jazmin believes that education is an essential tool allowing students to gain knowledge and furthering their own passions in diverse areas of interest such as, politics, law, and education.  In addition, she can draw on her deep appreciation for photography and participation in a Caribbean dance group to support interest in the arts. She is aware of the obstacles that challenge many students within the Latino community as she has witnessed the struggles that many confront in seeking higher education. <br /><br />Jazmin is constantly seeking to further her own knowledge and experience within advocacy-related work.  She hopes to continue her education in graduate school in the near future.'

'Christine is currently a student at the Thunderbird School of Global Management, completing her Global MBA On-Demand.  She is a member of her local chapter National Society of Hispanic MBAs. Christine was previously employed as a Credit Operations Analyst for Gerdau Ameristeel Corporation, the North American subsidiary for Gerdau Group based in Porto Alegre, Brazil.<br /><br />She earned her BS in Business Administration in International Business at Appalachian State University in Boone, North Carolina. She has also studied at ITSEM in Cuernavaca, Mexico and the American University in Paris.<br /><br />Christine has a passion for expanding opportunities to have an impact in her community through both philanthropic and professional activities. While at Applachian State, she was actively involved in the advancement of diversity on campus, through leadership in the Hispanic Student Association, Diversity Admissions Council, and Student Government.'

'Amber George has a B.A. from Otterbein College in Organizational Communication and a background in Banking and Investments. She is currently a full-time MBA student at Pepperdine University’s Graziadio School of Business and Management, concentrating in Marketing. Being the first in her family to graduate from college, Amber gives credit to her family who emigrated from Mexico for teaching her the value of hard work.<br /><br />Amber has a passion for helping others and especially enjoys participating in tutoring and mentorship programs. She is currently a member of NSHMBA and volunteers with the Special Olympics, the Children’s Lifesaving Foundation and the My Vision Foundation. <br /><br />Amber looks forward to integrating her Hispanic heritage with both her academic and professional career, and helping others to do the same.'

'Antonio Torres is a senior financial analyst at Procter & Gamble, where he started his career as a technical engineer. He graduated from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign with a B.S. in Mechanical Engineering and more recently completed his MBA from the University of Chicago Booth School of Business. He has been a member of both SHPE (Society of Hispanic Professional Engineers) and NSHMBA (National Society of Hispanic MBA\'s), both of which focus on the development of professional Latinos in the US.<br /><br />Having immigrated to the US from Guatemala at a young age, Antonio learned the value of hard work from his parents, however he believes more focus should be placed by today\'s Latino parents on education, particularly undergraduate and post-graduate. Antonio believes that building skills in math and science at an early age will lead to increased success for Latinos to excel through their educational career and become valued contributors to the future workforce.<br /><br />Antonio is particularly interested in developing the financial literacy of Latino adults and is working on completing his professional certification, a CFA charter, to enable him to pursue this goal.'

'Alberto Flores is the Northeast Region Hispanic Network Leader at Deloitte LLP.  In this role he works with Deloitte\'s Hispanic affinity groups in the Tri-State area to orchestrate workshops, programs, networking events and leadership development opportunities while serving as a member of Deloitte\'s HR Diversity & Inclusion team.  As a regional leader of employee resource group development and retention programs, Alberto has focused his efforts on serving as a role model, motivator and mentor to many students and professionals.<br /><br />He has a passion for enhancing the experience of Latinos in the workplace and dedicates his time and resources to connecting local programs to the organization\'s Diversity goals and objectives. Alberto currently serves as a member of the U.S.-Mexico Chamber of Commerce, Northeast Chapter where he leads the Professional Development Committee. <br /><br />He is also part of the Association of Latino Professionals in Finance and Accounting (ALPFA), where his primary focus is ALPFA’s National Community College Outreach Initiative, which includes building relationships to market ALPFA\'s Student Internship Summits to community college students, as well as assist chapters with growing student membership.<br />He volunteers with the Hispanic College Fund (HCF), Hispanic Federation, and the Embassy of Mexico in New York.'

'Betty Doo is a New England-based Leadership Development Consultant and Management Psychologist with a unique blend of expertise combining business and psychology.  She helps companies and individuals develop their leadership talent through her work providing leadership assessments, coaching and consultation services. She works with leaders from diverse industries, from global multi-billion dollar companies to small nonprofits. She is also an Executive Coach with the Harvard Business School’s Executive Education program. Betty belongs to NSHMBA (National Society for Hispanic MBAs) and numerous other professional associations and is on the Board of Directors for Employment Options, Inc., a Massachusetts nonprofit organization that provides services for individuals with mental illness.<br /><br />Betty was born and raised in Tampa, Florida to a Cuban mother and non-Latino father. This “bi-cultural” background has led her to appreciate the value of diversity in the workplace as well as in her own personal life. Her husband is of Chinese heritage, which further enriches her perspective and her life. <br /><br />Betty is a firm believer in the value of education and has used education as a key instrument for enhancing her professional and personal opportunities. She began her college career in a community college, St. Petersburg Community College in Florida, then received a Bachelors degree in Social Sciences from the University of South Florida, a Masters in Education from Southern Connecticut State College, and a Doctorate in Human Development from Harvard University. Her trek from community college to Harvard demonstrates commitment, perseverance and a true love of learning that will continue throughout her life. She has attended numerous training and certificate programs beyond her doctorate in such areas as Executive Coaching, High Performance Management, Executive Mediation, Managerial Assessment and Organizational Change. <br /><br />She is excited to be an Ambassador for the Latinos in College program to share her enthusiasm for the value of education with emerging Latino leaders.'

'Evelyn Ortiz currently holds the position of Event Planner for the National Council of La Raza (NCLR)-the largest national Hispanic civil rights and advocacy organization in the United States where she focuses on three major events, the Capital Awards, the Annual Conference, and the ALMA Awards. <br /><br />She is a graduate from The George Washington University with a B.A. in Sociology. During College, she worked  with the Heads Up Program as a tutor for elementary school kids from lower-income families. Serving as a role model for these students, and dealing with their families directly, she saw the difference one person could make in so many lives which is what motivated her to continue working for the underrepresented, especially the Latinos in her community and more importantly, Latina women.<br /><br />Evelyn formerly worked as an Assistant to the President/CEO for LATINA Style, a national magazine that focuses on the needs of the Latina working Professional, the Latina entrepreneur, and the Latina student entering the workforce for the first time. LATINA Style is more than a magazine; Evelyn gained experience in Event Planning while being an integral part of the signature events LATINA Style held throughout the nation. <br /><br />Prior to working for LATINA Style, Evelyn started her career at the Hispanic Association of Colleges and Universities (HACU) working for their National Internship Program (HNIP) where doors of opportunity are opened for Latino college students to help them find paid internships with government agencies and corporations nationwide.<br /><br />Evelyn is on the board of Latinas Leading Tomorrow (LLT), a leadership development program in the Arlington, VA community which promotes educational achievement, community involvement, cultural identity and multicultural awareness for Latina adolescents who are First Generation College bound students. She is also a member of the HACU Alumni Association (HAA) and the George Washington University Latino Alumni Association.<br /><br /> Evelyn is very involved with her community and her goal is to help increase opportunities for Latinos nationwide.'

'Jesse is currently a sophomore undergraduate at Davidson College, located in North Carolina.  He is pursuing his B.A. in English, a minor in Spanish and a concentration in Latino Ethnic Relations.  He plans to graduate in May 2012 then continue with his education in graduate school in either creative writing, law, or as an advocate for the Latino Community in Washington D.C.<br /><br />By the end of the year, Jesse will have traveled to Honduras with his school to teach young children English.  From there, he will be traveling to a Latin American country to study abroad and to provide service for the community.  Jesse is a strong believer in reaching out to the Latino Community in any way possible.<br /><br />Born and raised in Chicago, Illinois, Jesse is aware of the hardships students may encounter in their education, especially when faced with the decision of going to college or not.  Education is an important aspect for one to further their dreams and as long as there are opportunities and organizations willing to help, students should not turn away from the idea of becoming a college student.'

'Juan Escobar graduated as the first in his family to receive a college degree in December 2009 from San Jose State University (SJSU) with a Bachelors of Science in Marketing & Accounting, and a minor in Radio, Television & Film. She has about 10 years professional experience in the youth & career development field working with high school students from the Boston Public School system as well as with college undergraduates. <br /><br />Lynette has her B.S. in Management, Specialization in H.R. 'My name is Margarita Mendoza and I was born and raised in California. I come from Mexican American parents. My parents emigrated from Mexico over twenty years ago to provide our family with a better future and achieve the American Dream. Currently I am an undergraduate student at California State University, Monterey Bay (CSUMB). This is my second year and my major is Collaborative Health & Human Services with a dual concentration in Social Work and Community Health as well as a minor in Non-Profit Management. In the next two years here, I plan on establishing a club at school for underprivileged children and currently I am in pursuit of Lambda Theta Nu Sorority Inc, an organization that encourages young Latina women to pursue a higher education. During Spring 2011 I will be studying abroad most likely in South Africa. Once I obtain my B.A from CSUMB I plan on attending graduate school either at NYU, USC or San Diego State to obtain my masters degree in Social Work. I aspire to become a role model to Latinos and my two younger sisters. Growing up, through the years I have faced and overcome many adversities. As a first generation attending college I can relate to the challenges that Latinos face. I am here to help out Latinos and our community in order to form a better society!'

'A month after arriving in the U.S. from Uruguay, Sergio F. Serratto, &acute;08 was ready to take advantage of the land of opportunity. But instead of becoming a student, he had to drop his plans to study in order to help support his family from afar after his father had been in a serious car accident, leaving him unable to work. <br /><br /> After six years of having his dream deferred, Serratto was finally able to enroll at Westchester Community College; coming back to school with extraordinary passion and drive. The Business Administration student became national vice president of the Alpha Beta Gamma Business Honors Society and was selected to participate in an exclusive summer education program at Vassar College. He was also selected as the student representative to the college&acute;s Board of Trustees.<br /><br /> Sergio is now one of 15 selective members of the Westchester County Hispanic Advisory Board. He is at the same time studying Finance and International Business at New York University.  "I want to succeed in the business world and give something back to my family and my community," he says. "For those like me who have come to this country for a better life, it is important to know about the resources that will lead to success. In the future, I’d like to be able to point such individuals in the right direction."'
